Comic Shop Corner: December 4, 2013

Wednesday means comics! Comics means happy Donny! Happy Donny means nothing since no one cares about my happiness... Awww I made myself sad... Let's see if this weeks comics can cheer me up.

Dark Horse Comics

Hellboy In Hell #5

Whether this is your first time or you're a die hard fan, Hellboy in Hell is the kicker to a very big chapter in Hellboy's world. That's right kiddos. Evey issue of Hellboy since 1994 has been leading up to this chapter. In this issue Hellboy helps a confused man who sold his soul for a magic whip-a story inspired by one of the stranger Grimm's fairy tales. Do you even need a better reason to read these books? How about Dave Stewart, Hellboy artist extraordinaire is back to drawing the red menace.

Spotlight

Archaia Entertainment: Mouse Guard Legends Of The Guard #4

The 2011 Eisner Award winner for Best Anthology is back with a second volume! In the mouse tavern known as the June Alley Inn, a new round of storytelling begins between the patrons. Their goal is to be declared the best story of the night in hopes of having their outstanding debt to the barmaid forgiven. Each story is written and illustrated by a different creator, while Mouse Guard creator David Petersen supplies the tavern scenes! The final three mouse tales are told in the storytelling competition at the June Alley Inn in this last Issue of Legends of the Guard Vol 2. Writer/artist veteran Bill Willingham, concept painter and first-time comic storyteller Jackson Sze, illustrator Justin Gerard and pianist & composer Cliff Monear all lend their talents to round out the remaining tales about outwitting a menacing beast, the mapping of distant lands, and a folksong telling of magical puppets. June must then make her decision for which story has entertained her the most and clear that storyteller's past debts to the inn!
