Special: Re-Ranking The Best Movies of 2011 - 2014

Alright so first off let's announce the winner of our "What TV Show Should I Watch Next?" poll. Congratulations goes out to The Flash. Sorry The Walking Dead, better luck next March. This was supposed to be Batman and Robin Eternal's final checking in but I haven't had time to grab the last 2 issues so that'll be next Sunday (hopefully). This week I'm going to rank the top films of each year from 2011 - 2014 I recently updated the lists HERE however I just plug the new films I've watched in I don't rework the whole list, so let's look at where I'd set each year's top 10 today.

2011

Top 10 Then:

10. Moneyball
9. Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol
8. Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil
7. The Smurfs
6. Fright Night
5. Rango
4. Scream 4
3. X-Men: First Class
2. 30 Minutes Or Less
1. The Muppets

Top 10 Now:

10. Fright Night (6.)
9. 50/50  (15.)
8. Horrible Bosses (20.)
7. Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol (9.)
6. Warrior (14.)
5. Scream 4 (4.)
4. Moneyball (10.)
3. X-Men: First Class (3.)
2. Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil (8.)
1. The Muppets (1.)

Reasoning: Not much to talk about here, The Smurfs, Rango and 30 Minutes Or Less got bumped. The Smurfs didn't age well and Rango was actually the last film eliminated (likely would be 11.) as for 30 Minutes Or Less I still quite enjoy it but it's reason from falling from 2. to outside the top 10 is simply that Horrible Bosses overtook it as the funniest movie of the year.

2012

Top 10 Then:

10. Lawless
9. Dredd
8. Men In Black 3
7. The Amazing Spider-Man
6. Red Dawn
5. Wreck-It Ralph
4. The Hunger Games
3. Underworld: Awakening
2. The Avengers
1. The Dark Knight Rises

Top 10 Now:

10. Red Dawn (6.)
9. Argo (12.)
8. The Cabin In The Woods (11.)
7. Underworld: Awakening (3.)
6. 21 Jump Street (15.)
5. Wreck-It Ralph (5.)
4. The Hunger Games (4.)
3. Dredd (9.)
2. The Avengers (2.)
1. The Dark Knight Rises (1.)

Reasoning: If you thought 2011 had little explanation, this one takes the cake. Really the only thing that really changed was Dredd got better and better with each viewing causing it to sky rocket. The films eliminated (The Amazing Spider-Man, Men In Black 3, Lawless) would all rank in spots 11 through 15 so none of them really got worse but the movies taking their spots looked better with increased views.

2013

Top 10 Then:

10. A Good Day To Die Hard
9. Insidious Chapter 2
8. The Hangover Part III
7. Now You See Me
6. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
5. Percy Jackson: The Sea Of Monsters
4. Despicable Me 2
3. Iron Man 3
2. Evil Dead
1. Man Of Steel

Top 10 Now:

10. The Hangover Part III (8.)
9. The Wolverine (14.)
8. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (11.)
7. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (6.)
6. Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters (5.)
5. Now You See Me (7.)
4. Iron Man 3 (3.)
3. Despicable Me 2 (4.)
2. Evil Dead (2.)
1. Man Of Steel (1.)

Reasoning: I had a great case to put Fruitvale Station in the number 9 spot bumping the others down one but The Wolverine held up better upon a second viewing and I couldn't quite bring myself to bump The Hangover out of the top 10 like Insidious Chapter 2 and A Good Day To Die Hard who both are likely within that 11 - 15 range, maybe just outside in the case of Die Hard.

2014

Top 10 Then:

10. Maleficent
9. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
8. Turtle Power: The Definitive History Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
7. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
6. Batman: Assault On Arkham
5. Non-Stop
4. X-Men: Days Of Future Past
3. Veronica Mars
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
1. How To Train Your Dragon 2

Top 10 Now:

10. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (7.)
9. The Purge Anarchy (11.)
8. Batman: Assault On Arkham (6.)
7. Maleficent (10.)
6. Non-Stop (5.)
5. Veronica Mars (3.)
4. Big Hero 6 (12.)
3. X-Men Days Of Future Past (4.)
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2.)
1. How To Train Your Dragon 2 (1.)

Reasoning: This was a tough one. I could make an argument that the top 4 could've been number 1 in 2013. The only big mover is Big Hero 6 which had a late 2014 release which made it only viewable once before publishing. The movies eliminated (Spider-man 2 and the Turtle Documentary) don't have much rewatchability but are still good nonetheless and deserving of spots near the top of this list.
