Special: Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay, A Quiet Place, Black Panther Mini-Reviews

Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay:

Synopsis: A special group of imprisoned villains is brought together by Amanda Waller. Task Force X is assigned the mission of retrieving a mystical object. Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Bronze Tiger, Captain Boomerang, Killer Frost, and Copperhead risk their lives to find the powerful object.

My thoughts: Not the strongest entry in the DC Animated Movie Universe but it's still head and shoulders above some that they've done in the past that aren't in that universe but it was nice of DC to actually step out of the Justice League and Batman films that have only encompassed the universe (and 1 Teen Titans movie that was basically a Robin starer). It kept me guessing the characters motives, even if you could tell what the end result would be, but lets get one thing straight, this is not a kids movie, it's violent, there is sexual references and nudity. So maybe wait for the kids to be asleep?

Final verdict: 4 blink-and-you'll-miss-it cartoon boob shots out of 5.

A Quiet Place:

Synopsis: Two parents do what it takes to keep their children safe in a world full of creatures hunting every sound they can hear. Not a sound can be heard from the family hiding in silence, but all it takes is one noise and everything can go wrong.

My thoughts: This one should probably get a rewatch from me as I was not feeling well in the theatre and because the movie is 90% silent it made for a bad theatre going experience hearing every person in the theatre's gasp or crunch of a nacho but it did have thrilling moments but relied heavily on jump scares (boo). It was paced really well however and you don't notice any lulls in the action which is exceptionally important in a silent film so it's well worth a watch, my recommendation is watch it in the comfort of your own home though.

Final verdict: 3 noisy space ships out of 5.

Black Panther:

Synopsis: "Black Panther" follows T'Challa who, after the events of "Captain America: Civil War," returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T'Challa's mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

My thoughts: I can not say enough good things about this movie. The acting is out of this world good. Ryan Coogler is a God... That's right capital G. Marvel is smartly letting him make his own movie and are not making him rush a sequel to production which is especially shocking given all the money this movie made. It's out on DVD now, go buy it. This article is done, seriously leave now.

Final verdict: 5 "Wakanda Forever" salutes out of 5.

Special: Avengers: Infinity War, I Feel Pretty, Death Wish Mini-Reviews

Avengers: Infinity War:

Synopsis: An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Infinity War" brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

My thoughts: Upon the initial viewing, this seemed like a nearly flawless movie. Once it got a 2nd viewing though I noticed it does suffer from some pacing issues that was overlooked initially out of excitement of knowing how certain heroes who never met would interact with each other. Obviously with so many characters and only so much screen time for each this could've been a mess but they navigated it pretty skillfully so overall it's hard to say much negative things about Infinity War.

Final verdict: 5 dead heroes out of 5.

I Feel Pretty:

Synopsis: In I FEEL PRETTY a woman who struggles with feelings of deep insecurity and low self-esteem, that hold her back everyday, wakes from a brutal fall in an exercise class believing she is suddenly a supermodel. With this newfound confidence she is empowered to live her life fearlessly and flawlessly, but what will happen when she realizes her appearance never changed?

My thoughts: It's basically a paint by numbers romcom about a woman's beauty being judged from what's within and not the exterior... with a backdrop of selling makeup. Apparently the irony of that was lost on the writers, I wanted to give this 2 stars so badly just based on how derivative it was but I did laugh a few times which gives it the slightest bump up.

Final verdict: 3 mascaras out of 5.

Death Wish:

Synopsis: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures presents director Eli Roth's reimagining of the 1974 revenge thriller Death Wish. Dr. Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) is a surgeon who only sees the aftermath of his city's violence when it is rushed into his ER - until his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and college-age daughter (Camila Morrone) are viciously attacked in their suburban home. With the police overloaded with crimes, Paul, burning for revenge, hunts his family's assailants to deliver justice. As the anonymous slayings of criminals grabs the media's attention, the city wonders if this deadly avenger is a guardian angel or a grim reaper. Fury and fate collide in the intense action-thriller Death Wish. Paul Kersey becomes a divided person: a man who saves lives, and a man who takes them; a husband and father trying to take care of his family, and a shadowy figure fighting crime; a surgeon extracting bullets from suspects' bodies, and a man seeking justice that detectives are quickly closing in on.

My thoughts: Eli Roth is obviously not known for making action movies, but he does sneak in a bit of his signature horror moments but overall it tows the line between the two genres without really being able to standout in either. It's a fine movie worth a watch but maybe it's best to stream on Netflix in a few months instead of spending your hard earned cash on it.

Final verdict: 3 exploded brains out of 5.

Special: Ready Player One, Truth Or Dare, Game Over Man! Mini-Reviews

Ready Player One:

Synopsis: In the year 2045, people can escape their harsh reality in the OASIS, an immersive virtual world where you can go anywhere, do anything, be anyone-the only limits are your own imagination. OASIS creator James Halliday left his immense fortune and control of the Oasis to the winner of a contest designed to find a worthy heir. When unlikely hero Wade Watts conquers the first challenge of the reality-bending treasure hunt, he and his friends-known as the High Five-are hurled into a fantastical universe of discovery and danger to save the OASIS and their world.

My thoughts: Not too often, and especially not in CGI-heavy movies, do I want to tell my movie buddy how amazing a scene looks but during Ready Player One that happened on more than one occasion. It's beautiful, it's well directed, it's entertaining, the writing is top notch. There's not much more you can ask for out of a movie.

Final verdict: 5 Iron Giants out of 5.

Truth Or Dare:

Synopsis: A harmless game of Truth or Dare among friends turns deadly when someone -- or something -- begins to punish those who tell a lie or refuse the dare.

My thoughts: I'm not sure I need to go into too much detail here, this is your typical "teen horror" fare but after last year's Happy Death Day I was willing to give it a fair shot, and well it was an airball. Currently sporting a putrid 19% RT Audience Rating (For comparison sake the first Ouija with a 6% RT rating at least managed a 24% audience rating). Not a whole lot to say here, the storytelling is predictable, the production value is good, I guess but honestly that's about all I could say, and I generally like Lucy Hale and Tyler Posey but they just don't get much to work with and do even less with it.

Final verdict: 2 sacrifices out of 5.

Game Over, Man!:

Synopsis: During a star-studded Los Angeles party, three zeroes become heroes (sort of) when the hotel they work at is taken hostage by bad guys. From the creators of Workaholics, this action comedy comes locked and super loaded on March 23.

My thoughts: Nothing ground breaking here, it's standard raunchy comedy fare. You have lots of moments where you think "what the hell am I watching" but there are other parts where you're generally laughing. It wasn't the best comedy ever made, but it's not the worst and the ridiculous story line helped lead to some of those laughs and keep it as a pass.

Final verdict: 3 detached penises out of 5.
