Special: 2016 In Review: Best Albums of 2016

Hey everyone, hope you all enjoyed my top 100 songs of 2016 over the last 2 weeks or so. If you missed any of it the countdown starts HERE. We're keeping with the music theme with my favourite albums in 2016 this week. Now albums are hard for me to rank as usually it's completely dependent on how I'm feeling so I decided to use tiers this year so let's look at my favourites of 2016.

Top 4:

With Confidence - Better Weather

Record Label: Hopeless Records

Choice Cuts: We'll Be Okay, Voldemort, Keeper, Higher

Why: A great summer album. With Con, from Australia, know how to write a chorus and an album full of hooks. With Confidence writes about everything from girls, to struggling with mental health problems, and every song oozes pop-punk that demands to be played in the summer with your windows down. Ladies and gentlemen, your new favourite Pop-Punk band.

Yellowcard - Self-titled

Record Label: Hopeless Records

Choice Cuts: Rest In Peace, Got Yours, The Hurt Is Gone, Empty Street

Why: From a great summer album to the band that's career was launched off the success of arguable the greatest summer album ever made, Ocean Avenue. Now Yellowcard has released 6 albums since then and although none will likely be as memorable as OA, every one has helped Yellowcard mature and us listeners mature alongside of them. This is the end of Yellowcard and that band pulls no punches saying goodbye as every song is as fitting of a farewell as the next and the albums lead single/first track Rest In Peace, lets you know that's what you're in for. A moment of silence now as this will be the last time I ever write about Yellowcard for a year in review series...

Good Charlotte - Youth Authority

Record Label: MDDN

Choice Cuts: 40 oz. Dream, Makeshift Love, Keep Swingin', Life Changes

Why: Good Charlotte has never been a band that settles for being complacent, they're often challenging themselves but after 2010's Cardiology it seems they ran out of challenges and went on hiatus. They decided to reemerge this year with one of their best albums Youth Authority, the high points are constant, and the only real misses are the ballads which GC has never really excelled at, even then tracks like "Life Can't Get Much Better" are probably stronger than their former ballads.

The Summer Set - Stories For Monday

Record Label: Fearless Records

Choice Cuts: Missin' You, Figure Me Out, The Night Is Young, Wasted

Why: We finally got a follow up to 2013's Legendary (my favourite album that year BTW) this year with Stories For Monday. It's not the perfect pop record it's predecessor was, but Stories certainly holds it's own charm. Where Legendary focused on having a good time in the present, Stories dealt with a tumultuous time for the band that almost seen them calling it quits leading to a variety of songs about growing up and moving on (The Night Is Young, Wasted among them).
